Teachers sought for projects in China
___Teachers are being recruited for three projects to teach conversational English in China, according to Lorene Salyer, coordinator for work in China with Texas Mission Service Corps.
___"This year China is celebrating the 50th year of communist rule. The window to China is still open, however, for now. Teachers are urgently needed to teach conversational English and listening skills," she said.
___The three projects for the summer of 2000 are:
___bluebull The International Mission Board offers both a four-week program, July 12 through Aug. 12, and a seven-week program, June 17-Aug. 15. Cost of the four-week opportunity is $1,500, which includes an orientation in Hong Kong, plus international airfare. Total cost of the longer program is $3,780, which includes a Los Angeles orientation.
___bluebull Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Charlotte, N.C., in cooperation with the IMB, would like to send 65 teachers to Chengdu and 10 or 15 teachers to Chanqing July 2 to Aug. 6. Orientation for this program will be April 15 at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.
___bluebull The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, working with the Amity Foundation, is organizing two teams to serve July 3 to Aug. 6.
___One project will send 25 teachers to Nanning, with 10 upper-level university students requested to work with students ages 12-15. Other teachers are needed for various locations.
___Total cost is $2,600, and a $250 deposit must be received by April 10 with the remainder due by June 1. A reduced price of $2,400 is offered for those who send the full amount by April 10.
___Requirements for participation include a college degree, experience in classroom teaching, experience and/or certification teaching English as a Second Language. ___The Baptist General Convention of Texas will offer an orientation from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Baptist Building, 333 N. Washington, Dallas, on June 2.
