___bluebull Evangelists name officers. New officers of the Texas Hispanic Evangelism Conference are Gilbert Herrera of Lubbock, president; Gordon Molengraf, vice president; Pamela Valle, secretary; Carlos Montano, music director; and Martin Ortega, pastor adviser.
___bluebull Senior adult conference planned. East Texas Baptist University will offer a senior adult conference July 17-20. Anyone 55 years of age or older is invited to participate in the four days of inspiration and fellowship. Conference preacher will be Paul Powell, former pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler and former president of the SBC Annuity Board. A concert will be given by Ivan Parker, Sue Dodge and The Days. For registration information, call David Jones at (903) 935-7963, ext. 230.
___bluebull DBU students build house. Twenty-five students from Dallas Baptist University spent their spring break building a Habitat for Humanity house in Edinburg, near McAllen. This is the ninth year DBU students have built a Habitat house during spring break.
___bluebull HSU reunion planned. Hardin-Simmons University's class of 1950 will hold a reunion March 29-30. For information, call the university at (915) 670-1264.
___bluebull Nominees sought. May 5 is the deadline for Texas Baptist Communications Award nominations. The award is presented annually to a person in the communications field who has made significant contributions to the religious life of Texas. Baptist employees and employees of Baptist-related institutions, agencies or churches are ineligible for nomination. Nominees may or may not be members of Texas Baptist churches. Nominations should be submitted to Ken Camp, BGCT Communications, 333 N. Washington, Dallas, 75246-1798.
___bluebull Bilingual conference held. Baylor University's Center for Ministry Effectiveness and Hispanic Baptist Theological School recently co-sponsored a conference on ministry effectiveness on the HBTS campus with more than 150 in attendance. Conferences and general sessions were conducting bilingually. Featured speakers were Randall OBrien, Javier Elizondo, Ruth Sanchez, Lorenzo Pena, and Albert Reyes.
___bluebull Correction: A March 8 brief on enrollment at Hispanic Baptist Theological School in San Antonio understated the growth in enrollment there this spring. The school actually experienced a 74 percent gain in main campus enrollment.
