FRIENDSHIP CHURCH IN FAIRVIEW will celebrate the dedication of its new building April 2 at 2 p.m. The new facility has more than 21,000 square feet of space. Texas Baptist Men and Builders for Christ of First Church in Allen helped in the building's construction. Roland Burnett is pastor.
Former Administration-Staff Member of the Year award. Ellen Turner, assistant professor of English emeritus, was honored as the Former Faculty Member of the Year award recipient.
___bluebull Adults from around the state will meet at the Texas Encampment in Palacios May 1-4 for the 15th annual May by the Bay retreat. Each day will begin with a sunrise devotional brought by Harold Sellers, director of missions for Coastal Plains Area, followed by a prayer time led by Ola Helms of Victoria. Following breakfast, Bible teacher Mike Harrison, missionary Clyde Schultz and D.L. Lowrie, pastor of First Church in Lubbock, will preach and teach. Afternoons of each day are free for recreation. Evening services will be led by Lowrie, and Curtis Bryan will lead the music. All meals are served at the camp. To register, call (361) 972-2717.

___bluebull A number of bivocational ministers and music ministers have experienced success working with the youth correctional facilities in Burnet, Brownwood, Gainesville and San Saba. Over 1,100 professions of faith have been reported.

___bluebull Spring Creek Church in Weatherford celebrated 118 years of service March 26. Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Director Emeritus Bill Pinson was the guest speaker, and the musical group His Way also sang. Bill Roe is interim pastor.
___bluebull Mike Riddle of the Institute for Creation Research will present two lectures on biblical creation at First Church in Blue Ridge April 2. The lectures will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call (972) 752-5611. Johnnie Jones is pastor.
___bluebull First Church in Denison will present a gospel music special event April 2 at 6 p.m. Many gospel singers and groups will perform at this free event. Keith Barbee is pastor.
___bluebull First Church in Del Rio will be the site of a series of five meetings April 2-3. Bill Bruster, western coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and former pastor of First Church in Abilene, will speak on "Reviving Christian Truths: A Look at Baptist Distinctives." ___bluebull Eugene Adams has celebrated his 15th anniversary as pastor of Pacio Church in Lake Creek.
___bluebull Jimmie Woodard has celebrated his fifth anniversary as pastor of First Church in Annona.
___bluebull Calvary Church in Rosenberg will celebrate its 50th anniversary April 2. Former pastors Ken James and Bill Ballou will preach, and a reunion choir will sing. A noon meal will follow. Steve Porter is pastor.

___Deaths
___bluebull Doris Slack, March 16 in San Antonio. She was the wife of minister of education and music Billy Slack. They served in 11 Texas Baptist churches in Fort Worth, Humble, Corpus Christi and San Antonio. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Henefield; and two sons, Ronnie and Bennie.
___bluebull Marjorie Miller, 81, March 17 in Fairfield. She was the wife of Fern Miller, the first director of missions in Trinity-Brazos Area, who served from 1965 until 1980. She is survived by her husband.
___bluebull Mayla Ward, 57, Feb. 17 in Dumas. She was the daughter of Strauss Atkinson, former pastor of First Church in Canyon and retired director of missions of Caprock Plains Area. She is survived by her husband, Gary; one son, David; one daughter, Pennee Schmitt; her father; and one sister, Lynn Cain.
