2,000 student missionaries become
hands and feet and voice of God
___For most university students, spring break means a trip to the beach, a week of parties and all kinds of selfish indulgences.

year, however, and gave their week off to help others.
___Baptist Student Ministry participants traveled to the El Paso desert, Connecticut, San Francisco, Mexico and points in-between to share the love of Jesus Christ with others.
___Students from the University of Texas at El Paso broke new ground as they took up the call to minister in Connecticut, a result of the new partnership established between the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Baptist Convention of New England.
___Students from 10 universities ministered to Texas residents by working on Metro 2000 projects, a challenge issued to Baptist Student Ministries offices across the state to reach out to people in San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Dallas and Houston.
___This year also marked the 20th anniversary of spring break ministries at South Padre

Island, an effort known across the state simply as Beach Reach.
___Preliminary reports indicated this tried-and-true evangelistic outreach helped more than 130 students make a first-time faith commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior. In addition, the Baptist student volunteers witnessed to, ministered to, prayed with and assisted thousands of others.
___Elsewhere, Texas Baptist students led revival services in Brownsville and worked with AIDS patients in San Francisco.
___By the end of the week, not only were the lives of others changed, but the students themselves were changed.
___On the last day of their mission trip to El Paso and Juarez, students from Texas Medical Center and Rice University sang, "We want to see your face and touch your hands, Jesus." And in a way, they and university students from across the state did just that by giving to others.
