Schools cited for character push ___Four Texas Baptist universities have been honored by the John Templeton Foundation as being among the nation's top "colleges that encourage character development." ___Three of the Texas Baptist schools were listed among the Honor Roll of the top 100 character-building institutions in the United States. They are Baylor University, Dallas Baptist University and Howard Payne University. ___Another Texas school, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, was recognized on two additional lists, one for having an "exemplary first-year program" and the second for having an "exemplary civic education program." ___Dallas Baptist University also was recognized for having an "exemplary program of spiritual growth." ___The four Texas Baptist-related schools were among only 11 Texas colleges or universities recognized by the Templeton Foundation. The Honor Roll for Character-Building Colleges was established in 1989 to "recognize biennially those institutions that emphasize character development as an integral aspect of the undergraduate experience." ___ ___
