___Despite language barriers, students from Rice University and the Texas Medical Center in Houston saw about 40 patients at three sites a day.
___"I watched some of the Rice students playing with the kids while they were waiting to see the doctors and the translators talking with patients. Sometimes I thought they were doing the real work," said Tony Pruett, a first-year medical student.
___While medical students ministered to residents of Juarez, a group from Rice University gave the building of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Ysleta, a 45-year-old cream-colored church in the Lower El Paso valley, a face-lift, by repainting it.
___"These students could be anywhere else spending their spring break, but there's something very unselfish about them to want to come out and help a foreign community they know nothing about," said Leo Samaniego, coordinator of the El Paso River Ministry.
