Religion in schools conference planned. Two nationally prominent authorities on constitutionally allowed engagement between public schools and religion will lead a forum in Dallas April 6. Charles Haynes and Oliver Thomas, authors of "Finding Common Ground: The Appropriate Role of Religion in the Public Schools," will present a public forum at 7 p.m. April 6 at the Dallas Independent School District Auditorium, 3700 Ross St.

HSU cheerleaders on a roll again. The cheerleaders of Hardin-Simmons University, last year named the best Christian university cheerleading squad in the nation, are ranked third in the nation for their division this year as they head toward the National Cheerleading Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., in April. The cheerleaders plan to distribute T-shirts with Christian messages and engage in other forms of witness during the event.

Promise Keepers coming to Texas. Promise Keepers has scheduled one of its regional rallies for men and teenage boys in Dallas this year. Gould scholarship established. Friends and family of William Gould have established an endowed scholarship in his memory at Hardin-Simmons University. The scholarship will benefit graduate students in physical therapy. Until his death in 1999, Gould was chairman of the university's physical therapy department.
