Missions study committee seeks input

___The committee appointed to study Southern Baptist missions-sending agencies is seeking input from all Texas Baptists.
___Chairman Jim Denison, pastor of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, said the 19-member committee had its initial meeting March 28 in Dallas.
___"We had a time of prayer and discussed the purpose and process of our work," Denison said. Betty Law of Fort Worth was named vice chair.
___"We are requesting input from all Texas Baptists," he added, saying letters may be sent to the Missions Sending Study Committee, 333 N. Washington, Dallas 75246-1798.

___The committee was appointed by the officers of the Baptist General Convention of Texas in response to a motion adopted by messengers to the 1999 annual session in El Paso.
___According to the motion, the committee is to study the financial resources, theological positions, missions strategy and philosophy of Southern Baptist missions-sending agencies.
___Charles Wade, BGCT executive director, said the study will include the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
___Denison said the committee will "gather information about the Baptist missions-sending agencies."
___"We will not make specific recommendations but will report our findings to the Executive Board of the BGCT."
___"My daily prayer is that God will guide our committee as we seek to help Texas Baptists be obedient to the Great Commission," Denison said.
___Wade also requested the prayers of all Texas Baptists "that we might be able to study these important issues in such a way that the result will be that the kingdom of God will increase and Texas Baptists will be faithful to our mission to be on mission to the world."
___In addition to Denison and Law, others serving on the committee are Nathan Porter of Waco, Ophelia Humphrey of Amarillo, Ruth Andrade of Midland, John Chavarria of El Paso, Andy Davis of Belton, Bud Hudgins of Houston, Alvin Burns of Dallas, Mitch Randall of Fort Worth, Ron Lyles of Pasadena, Paul Saylors of Tyler, Paul Powell of Tyler, Jack Smith of Orange, Doug Jackson of Corpus Christi, Presnall Wood of Dallas, Bill Noble of Brownfield, Beth Pratt of Floydada and Carol Carter of Pasadena.
