NAMB appoints new missionaries
___The North American Mission Board has made several new appointments of Texans who will serve throughout the nation.
___Jim and Karen Young serve in Dallas. He is the former pastor of numerous Texas churches including First Baptist Church in Avery, Horizon City Baptist Church in El Paso, Trinity Baptist Church in Bryan, Trinity Baptist Church in Gatesville and West Oaks Church in Bryan. He also was a prison chaplain at the Hughes Unit in Gatesville and in

Huntsville. He served as chaplaincy program administrator with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Huntsville from 1992 to 1999. In 1999, he began to serve as a consultant with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and he will continue in that capacity as a missionary. Mrs. Young currently is a ministry assistant with the BGCT.
___Patty Villareal serves in Dallas as a church, community and Hispanic ministries consultant. A San Antonio native, she is working with the BGCT, providing resources to churches and associations interested in ministry-based evangelism resources. Villareal worked with Buckner Baptist Benevolences in San Antonio for 13 years, first as a child care worker and later as a social worker. After serving Kentucky churches for a few years, she returned to Texas in 1993 to serve at Sur San Antonio Baptist Church in San Antonio as single adult minister, and also was a social worker at Esparaza Elementary School in that city. In 1999, she was employed as a consultant with the church ministry department of the BGCT, the position she will continue to hold as a missionary.
___Dirk and Libby Pearce serve as church planters in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a church planter strategist, born in Lubbock, and a graduate of Wayland Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary. They served for 10 years as International Mission Board missionaries to Senegal.
___Greg and Karla Barnes serve in San Marcos, Calif., in church planting. He is a church planter intern serving The Bridge Church in the San Deigo Baptist Association. The launch date of The Bridge Church was March 5, with 117 people in attendance. A native of Bay City, he has worked as an evangelist and as a youth pastor. Mrs. Barnes is from El Salvador.
