Wayland trustees meet. During their March meeting, trustees of Wayland Baptist University approved addition of a women's intercollegiate soccer team and a university budget of $24.8 million for the next academic year. The budget projects 16 new faculty and staff positions to keep up with growth in student enrollment. Five of the new positions will be on the Plainview campus, with the remainder at external campuses.

Mary Hardin-Baylor honors Swindoll. Luci Swindoll, a 1955 graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, will be receive a distinguished alumni award April 7 at 7:30 p.m., at the W.W. Walton Chapel on the school's Belton campus. Swindoll is the sister of author and preacher Chuck Swindoll. She served as vice president of public relations with Insight for Living, her brother's ministry. She is one of six speakers for the "Women of Faith" ministry that conducts conferences nationwide.

Baptists at the races. More than 100 volunteers from Texas Baptist churches worked at Texas Motor Speedway last week through Texas Alliance Raceway Ministries. As in recent years, the volunteers staffed an information booth, provided shuttle services, led worship services, presented a Christian concert and offered activities for children.
