Rose named to new post at BGCT
___Royce Rose has been named coordinator of theological education for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___He has been consultant in growth and new work for the Bible teaching/discipleship division of the BGCT for almost three years.
___Rose succeeds Bill Tillman, who recently joined the faculty of Logsdon School of Theology at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
___"I am looking forward to working with the religion departments of the eight institutions of higher education and the two theological schools affiliated with the BGCT, to make theological education more accessible," Rose said.
___He also will be working with several other organizations such as the Texas Baptist Laity Institute, the Texas Baptist Leadership Center, Seminary Extension, In-Service Guidance, Valley Baptist Missions/Education Center and Hispanic Baptist Theological School.
___Rose taught at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1987 to 1997, as associate professor of administration and associate dean for advanced studies.
___From 1981 to 1986, he was director of independent study education for the Seminary Extension Department of the Southern Baptist Convention in Nashville, Tenn. From 1978 to 1981, he was director of associational missions for Rehoboth Baptist Association in Sulphur Springs.
___He also has been a local church minister of education and administration.
___He is a graduate of Howard Payne University and received a master's degree and doctorate from Southwestern Seminary.
