Paul Potter will join the Hardin-Simmons University faculty in the new academic year as professor of communications and head of the department. He presently is chairman of the communications department at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., where he has been since 1998. Potter also is an ordained Baptist minister and has worked as a special projects director for the Southern Baptist Radio & Television Commission, producing "The Baptist Hour."

Bellview Church in Midland will hold a 50th anniversary celebration and dedication service for its remodeled sanctuary and new welcome center May 20-21. A reception will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and a meal will follow the morning service on Sunday.

Aubrey Graham, 92, May 3 in Athens. Graham composed and published 24 gospel songs, was a gospel singer and worked as a printer for Stamps Baxter Music Company for 28 years. After joining First Church in Athens in 1973 following his retirement, he led singing in several local nursing homes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal. He is survived by his brothers, Alton and Derwin; and sisters, Loette Schroeder and Margaret Snodgrass.

Tallowood Church in Houston honored 97 couples in the congregation who have been married 50 years or more May 7. Forty-seven couples had been married more than 55 years. Duane Brooks is pastor.
