Opal James dead at age 94
___Opal James, the wife of former Baptist Standard editor E.S. James, died May 13 at age 94.
___James baptized his future wife while he was pastor of First Baptist Church in Leedey, Okla. Mrs. James was born there, and had been employed there by the local bank and as a schoolteacher. Following their marriage they served in Kansas for three years before returning to Texas when James was named pastor of First Baptist Church in Cisco. After serving there for seven years, they moved to Vernon when James became pastor of First Bapist Church.
___James became editor of the Baptist Standard in 1954. After her husband's death in 1976, she remained in Dallas and was an active member of Royal Haven Baptist Church until her death.
___She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Jo Ann.
___She is survived by one son, Bill; two daughters, Ramona Daniel and Shirley Young; one sister, Angela Bowman; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
