Andy Patterson, member of Hardin-Simmons University's School of Music faculty since 1959, will retire at the end of the spring semester. Patterson is professor of music theory and composition and woodwinds and head of the theory and composition department.
___He also served on the music faculties of Texas Christian University, Florida State University, Georgia Teachers College and Florida A&M.

Illa Fay Becker, 78, May 18. She was the wife of Emil Becker, retired pastor of First Church in Stephenville. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Ronald and David.

Minnie Roberts, 95. Her mother was the housemother for the first dorm students of Southwestern Seminary. She may have been one of the last people living to have known B.H. Carroll personally, as he spent much time in her home, and she later taught violin at the seminary. She served as children's director at First Church in Wichita Falls for 20 years before retiring in 1970. She later married Thomas Roberts, director of Hendricks Home for Children and continued her ministry there in Abilene.
___After his death, she moved back to Wichita Falls, and at the age of 80 became volunteer children's director for Colonial Church.

JoAnne Cook, Feb. 23. She was secretary for Quail Valley Church in Missouri City for 13 years. She is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Todd; daughter, Sabrina; and brother, Bob Allen.

Betty Mojica, 77, April 5. She spent 50 years in mission work and 39 years in the field of education. She is survived by her husband, Miguel; sons, Michael and Thomas; daughter, Belen; brothers, Bobby and Allison Davis; sister, Jackie Vickers; and seven grandchildren.

Manchaca Church in Manchaca is seeking to raise funds to offset the medical expenses of Youth Minister Chuck Hensley's 18-year-old daughter. Last year she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and hospital and other expenses have overwhelmed the family. A yard sale will be held June 17.
