___World Wide Pictures, the motion picture arm of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, has produced a new full-length movie that will air on television stations across the state in June.

DARIUS MCCRARY and Tamera Mowry perform in a scene from "Something to Sing About."
|
___The film, "Something to Sing About," features gospel music and a primarily African-American cast. Among the cast members are Darius McCrary of the television series "Family Matters" and Tamera Mowry from the series "Sister, Sister." Irma Hall of "Patch Adams" and Grammy award winner Kirk Franklin also have feature roles.
___Other recognizable cast members are John Amos of "Good Times" fame, and Grant Goodeve from "Eight is Enough."
___The film features McCrary as a young man fresh from prison wanting to start a new life but unable to catch a break until Memaw, played by Hall, hears him sing. McCrary's singing first gets him into the church choir and then moves him into a growing faith in Jesus Christ.
___The music for the film is up-tempo, just the way music adviser Brent Jones wanted.
___"I love to take a traditional hymn and hippify it so it fits today's cultural style," he said.
___While the film may not be a Hollywood blockbuster, Franklin said, he's happy to serve God through his inclusion in the cast.
___"More than anything for me, it's just wanting to be used however God wants me to be used," he explained. "This is not a big $20 million budget, and I'm not starring along with Denzel Washington, and I haven't signed for 12 figures. ... That may not always be satisfying to my flesh, but I know the safest place is in the will of God."
___Franklin is also careful to put performing in its proper perspective.
___Graham incorporated World Wide Pictures in 1952, and the company has produced more than 125 films since that time.
___"Something to Sing About" also is available for showing in churches. For more information, call (800) 998-3456.
