W.F. Howard, longtime head of student work dies
___W.F. Howard, long-time director of student work in Texas, died May 23.
___Howard was born in Waxahachie July 13, 1908.
___A graduate of Baylor University, the University of Texas and East Texas Baptist University, he was an English teacher and later served as superintendent of the Ennis school district.
___Howard went on to serve as education director at 7th & James Baptist Church in Waco and as an instructor at Baylor University before joining the Baptist General Convention of Texas staff in 1943. Prior to his retirement in 1974, Howard served as director of the first missionary Journeyman program in 1965.
___He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Hazel. He is survived by his son, W.F.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
___Services were held at Gaston Oaks Baptist Church in Dallas.
___The family requests donations be made to the W.F. and Hazel Howard Scholarship Fund at Baylor University.
