___ East Texas Baptist University's music school recently received a major donation of music scores from Terry Hicks of North Carolina. The school now has the complete library of the Dover Publishing Company. ___ The Woman's Missionary Union of Bethel Church in Eastland has grown in ministry and numbers in the last year. The group has been active in prayer, providing baby supplies for needy mothers, food for families and money and supplies to missionaries. ___ Jane Allred, a Hardin-Simmons University graduate and a Sunday School teacher at Lytle South Church in Abilene, has been named "Teacher of the Year" for Special Services/Support Professional of the Association of Texas Professional Educators. ___Retiring ___ Walter Evans retired May 7 at Lyons Road Church in Garland on the 10th anniversary of the church he planted there. Evans also served as pastor of Oak Crest Church, Ross Avenue Church and First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale, all in Dallas, during his 37 years in the ministry. ___ Ray Ash has retired as pastor of First Church in Mason, where he had served for more than five years. He and his wife, Rita, also served as missionaries to Nigeria for five years. He also was pastor of First Church in Brady for 22 years. He is available for supply, interims and as a speaker for missions programs. ___Deaths ___ Mattie Risinger, 78, April 9 in Upshur County. The mother of Baptist Standard board member Charles Risinger, she was a member of Woods New Hope Church in Tenaha. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond; son, Charles; daughters, Betty Christy and Joan Risinger; sister, Mildred Brannon; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. ___Licensed ___ Martin Cherry to the ministry at Woodlawn Church in Austin. ___Ordained ___ Charles Gault, David Miller, Curtis Wagner, Jerry Anderson and James Dawson as deacons at Woodlawn Church in Austin. ___ A.F.
