Hispanic women's event moving to Fort Worth
___FORT WORTH--"Be Still" will be the theme for the sixth annual Celebrating the Hispanic Woman Conference, July 14-15.
___For the first time, the conference will be held outside San Antonio, moving instead to the campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
___The conference is for women and girls age 12 and older "who want a biblical approach to matters of daily living," reported Margarita Trevino, president of the Christian Education and Research Institute in Keller and organizer of the meeting.
___The conference also will help "women who are seeking God's direction for their families, women in lay leadership roles in their churches and women serving as full-time partners in ministry," Trevino added.
___Ofilia Gomez, an educator, pastor's wife, Baptist leader and member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Austin, will be the keynote speaker for the conference.
___The meeting also will feature 20 special-interest seminars. They include topics related to marriage relationships, parenting, prayer, Christian discipleship, ministry and challenges such as teen pregnancy, media, gangs and drugs.
___The event begins Friday morning, July 14, and ends Saturday afternoon, July 15.
___It is co-sponsored by the Christian Education and Research Institute, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission, Theo Avenue Baptist Church in San Antonio, Buckner Baptist Benevolences, Baptist Child and Family Services, the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation, the Joseph and Sally Handleman Foundation and Southwestern Seminary's Scarborough Institute.
