Arango to be nominated
___Otto Arango, pastor of Getsemani Baptist Church in McAllen, will be nominated for the presidency of the Hispanic Baptist Convention when it meets June 26-28 in Houston.
___[name deleted for security reasons] said he will nominate Arango for the post, which is being vacated by Rudy Camacho, a layman from Fort Worth, who has served two terms.
___In announcing his plans to nominate Arango, [name deleted] said Arango has been a pastor 25 years and in the 10 years he has served at McAllen has started many churches.
___"In 1999, Getsemani church and its missions baptized 108 people. Otto is committed to planting and sponsoring churches and has started training centers across the state to prepare pastors to serve in the churches which are being started among Hispanic people," he said.
___Arango has been pastor and church planter in California and at churches in Seagoville, Houston and McAllen. He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the California Graduate School of Theology and Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, La.
___He has been president of the Ministers Conference of the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas.
___Other candidates for the presidential office are expected to be nominated as well, but none had been publicly identified as of press time.
