Shelley Tapp has been named chair of the Wayland Baptist University division of business. Joining the faculty in 1997, she previously taught at the University of Nebraska and Saint Louis University.

Bill Fomby as business administrator of First Church in Amarillo June 30. He has served on the church's staff for 26 years.

Chuck Dooley from the church starting center of the Baptist General Convention of Texas June 30. He has served since 1979 as a church starting consultant in the Gulf Coast region.

Dean Burk July 1 as pastor of Arapahoe Road Church in Littleton, Colo., after 14 years of service. He served churches in Cisco, Denton, Corpus Christi and Houston for 25 years.

James Huse as pastor of Pilgrims Way Church in Sanger July 1. He has been pastor there for almost nine years. Prior to that, he and his wife, Joan, served as missionaries for 35 years in New Mexico. They will be available to speak on home missions or for interim or supply situations at (940) 458-5560.

Avondale Church in Sweetwater recently honored Pastor Cecil Deadman for his 11 years of service to the church and the completion of his master of theology degree. Jan Daehnert, coordinator for minister/church relations of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, was the guest speaker.

Wylie Church in Abilene is planning a history celebration under a tent Aug. 13. The day will include the morning worship service, singing and a time of testimony. A book of the church's history is being compiled, and people with stories or photographs are asked to submit them by July 7 to: History Celebration Committee, 6097 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene 79606.

Stella McWhorter, 95, June 11 in Carrollton, Ga. McWhorter assisted her daughter, Mildred, in inner city missions in Houston. She spoke to many Baptist student organizations across the nation, and at age 92 gave her testimony at the Missouri State Evangelism Conference. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus, and son, Bryant. She is survived by her daughter; sister, Laura Moseley; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kelli Turner, 63, May 8 in Houston. Her husband, Bill, is pastor of South Main Church in Houston. A teacher for 20 years, she co-wrote "Declarations of the Soul--Faith Journeys of Women from South Main Baptist Church" in 1995. Over the years, she was a Sunday School teacher, social ministry volunteer and retreat leader in marriage and family enrichment. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Lisa Jeter, Laurie Turner and Andrea Turner; five grandchildren; mother, Lenora Gross; and brother, Doyle Gross.
