___McCoy, the current Texas Junior Miss, just completed her senior year at San Marcos Baptist Academy.
___"Be your best self" is the motto of Junior Miss, encouraging participants to become balanced, well-rounded women.
___That's a message McCoy wholeheartedly embraces. A whole person, she said, is one who attends to the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life. McCoy said she has dedicated much of her time to strengthening her spiritual life, which has given her the security and confidence to pursue the many activities in which she has excelled.
___Since entering the academy in the seventh grade, McCoy has competed on the varsity power-lifting and cross country teams. She also was a varsity cheerleader and was crowned as the Corps of Cadets Sweetheart her sophomore year. She has been a member of the National Honor Society, serving as both historian and vice president. A leader in the girls COEDS organization at the Academy, she also has been active in student government and has received the highly regarded Alumni Distinguished Service Award five years.
___McCoy participated in the San Marcos Junior Miss Scholarship Program last spring. After winning at the local level, she went on to compete at the state contest, which was held in San Antonio. She earned the state Junior Miss title Aug. 7 and will go on to the national competition June 28.
___Despite all her achievements, McCoy said her confidence comes from God alone.
___"If you are able to use your worldly achievements to do work for the Lord, that's what gives satisfaction," she explained. "Those achievements open doors."
___One door already open to McCoy as Texas Junior Miss has been the chance to reach out to young people throughout the year.
