Hispanic Baptists adopt vision, elect Estrada

___HOUSTON--The Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas adopted Vision 2005, a five-year strategic plan, at its annual meeting this summer.
___Convention messengers also elected a new president, Antonio Estrada of South Main Baptist Church of Houston, by a two-vote margin over Otto Arrango of Iglesia Bautista Getsemani in McAllen. Emilio Rod-riguez of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Duncanville also was nominated.

Legal Bytes: Computers make way for more aid

___WASHINGTON (ABP)--The U.S Supreme Court has opened a wider door allowing government aid to religious schools.
___Six of the nine justices affirmed the constitutionality of a federal program that provides computers and other instructional materials to public, private and religious schools.
___But the majority split on key principles regarding the U.S. Constitution's Establishment Clause, with four justices forging a plurality that would allow virtually all government aid to religious schools.

Fellowship seeks BWA affiliation

___ORLANDO, Fla. (ABP)--Seeking to enhance its status among the world's Baptists, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has voted to seek membership in the 95-year-old Baptist World Alliance.
___Participants at the Fellowship's 10th annual general assembly voted without opposition to apply to become the 197th member of the worldwide Baptist organization.

Sisemore defines Bible statement

___FLOYDADA--"Seven words taken out of context have caused quite a stir," Anthony Sisemore noted, understating the maelstrom that has circulated around a speech he made at the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting. "It's been completely misinterpreted and taken out of context," Sisemore said in an interview.
