___bluebull Foundation offers awards. Nominations are being accepted for the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation Mission Service Awards. The Pioneer Award goes to a long-time leader in missions or someone who has played a key role in beginning mission work that had an impact on Texas Baptist life. The Innovator Award is given to a church or individual who has provided a model for missions that others can adopt. The Adventurer Award honors an individual who has advanced missions through direction of significant mission activities, outstanding financial support or leadership in ministry opportunities. Nominations may be sent to TBMF President Bill Arnold, 333 N. Washington, Dallas 75246-1798. Deadline is July 31.
___bluebull KCBI wins drama award. "A Father's Heart," a modern-day story of the parable of the prodigal son produced by Dallas radio station KCBI and staff member Alan Scott, won the best drama special award at the New York Festivals 2000 Radio Awards last month. The program is set on a contemporary West Texas cattle ranch.
___bluebull Prof arrested on porn charges. Bruce Watson, a French professor at Baylor University, and his wife, Jessica Watson, were arrested July 1 on charges of possessing pornographic photographs of nude children. The Watsons were arrested after a Baylor computer technician reportedly discovered more than 200 pictures of nude children in Bruce Watson's computer while the technician was converting files between computers.
___bluebull Thompson named to HBU post. Phyllis Thompson, chair of the languages department and professor of French at Houston Baptist University, has been named associate dean of the university's College of Arts and Humanities.
___bluebull HSU promotes Taylor, Wheeler. Donathan Taylor has been named head of the Hardin-Simmons University history department. He is the son of the late Ira Taylor, who was chairman of the university's art department. HSU also promoted Mindy Wheeler to be associate dean of students. She will continue as director of residence life.
___bluebull DBU extends online reach. Dallas Baptist University is making higher education possible anywhere, anytime, through four complete online programs, including bachelor's degree completion programs in business and management and an MBA program in e-commerce and management.
