Fist Five
___GLORIETA, N.M.--Vaughn Manning believes many churches would be aided by learning how to find consensus before taking votes. He suggested one way of gauging consensus called Fist Five.
___Any member of the group may call for a Fist Five. Members are then asked to raise a hand, with the number of fingers displayed showing their level of agreement with the issue.

Five fingers: The person is in total support of the proposal.
___
Four fingers: The person is in general agreement but has one slight reservation to be addressed.
___
Three fingers: The person is in general agreement but needs more information before a vote.
___
Two fingers: The person is leaning against the proposal and needs major modifications.
___
One finger: The person strongly disagrees with the proposal and would vote against it.
___
No fingers: "This proposal will pass over my dead body."
