Texas Tidbits
___bluebull Big Country Youth Day planned. Hardin-Simmons University invites youth groups, Royal Ambassador groups and Girls in Action groups to its Big Country Youth Day Saturday, Sept. 23. After a free pizza lunch, participants will hear testimonies from university athletes and then attend a football game between Hardin-Simmons and Texas Lutheran University. For registration information, call Bruce Ayres at (915) 670-1262.
___bluebull Stones are missionaries in residence. James and Meredith Stone are serving as missionaries in residence at Hardin-Simmons University this year. The Stones are the first missionaries affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention's North American Mission Board to serve in this capacity. Stone previously served as director of Baptist Student Ministries at Wright State University in Ohio.
___bluebull ETBU anticipates largest-ever class. As fall classes began at East Texas Baptist University last week, registration appeared to be confirming the arrival of the school's largest-ever freshman class. At least 328 freshmen were preregistered, and a total of 400 freshmen were expected. That would top the previous record freshman enrollment of 290. University officials credited the large increase to a beefed-up recruiting program and the addition of a new football program.
