MOUNT GILEAD CHURCH in Keller celebrated its 150th anniversary July 13. Pictured is the church's oldest existing building, constructed in 1882. In conjunction with the anniversary celebration the church also broke ground on a new building that will include a sanctuary, offices and education space. T. Nathan Tucker is pastor.

Glen Cove Baptist Church near Coleman will celebrate its 100th anniversary Aug. 13. Former pastor Clyde McCullough will preach in the morning service, and a meal will follow. An afternoon session will include guest speakers Jan Daehnert of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and State Rep. Bob Turner. An ice cream fellowship is scheduled for 3 p.m., and a concert by Heaven's Jubilee at 4 p.m. Jerry Shields is pastor.

Speegleville Church in Waco will celebrate its 150th anniversary Aug. 13. Bill Tolar, Southwestern Seminary professor and a former pastor of the church, will preach that morning. Richard Wells, president of Criswell College, also will be a part of the service. A catered lunch will follow, and reservations need to be made at (254) 848-4898 during Monday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings. Music and testimony will follow the meal. Derek Dodson is pastor.

Community Church of Blackland in Royce City will honor Tom Fields for his 50 years of ministry at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

First Church in Cooper will celebrate its 125th anniversary Aug. 13. A time of singing, testimonies and music will begin at 9 a.m., with special music from the Lighthouse Gospel Quartet. The morning worship service will begin at 10:35 a.m. and be followed by a catered meal. K. Lyn Holly is pastor.

Donald Thompson after 48 years in the ministry. He has been pastor of Hilltop Church in Weatherford for the last 22 years.

Noel Callaway, 85, July 24 in Austin. Callaway taught criminal justice at Hardin-Simmons University for 10 years, serving as head of the department of criminal justice from 1974 until his retirement in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Helen Weaver and Coby Barkley; sons, James and Bill; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Glenn Dromgoole, 81, July 11 in Silsbee. Dromgoole was pastor of First Church in Sour Lake from 1943 until 1984. Following his retirement, he was an active member of Calder Church in Beaumont. He also served on the board of directors of Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas for 37 years and on the executive board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Eloise; sons, Glenn and Charlie; stepdaughter, Lou Ann Johnson; stepson, Kenneth Thompson; brother, Emmett; sisters, Frances Fagg and Mildred Strauch; and six grandchildren.
