Remember works of God, women urged
___WACO--Memory, mystery and imagination are among the ways God makes himself and his will known, according to Anne Davis, former dean and professor in the Carver School of Social Work at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
___Davis, who is current director of operations at the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children in Waco, led a Bible study on a portion of the third chapter of Ephesians during Texas Leadership Conference, a training event sponsored by Woman's Missionary

Union of Texas.
___Much of God's handiwork is only visible in retrospect, she observed. So memory is crucial to understanding how God works in the lives of believers.
___"Nobody has trouble thinking of things in the future to worry about, but we have trouble remembering," she said. "It's incredibly difficult to build a growing faith unless it is on a historic understanding of God. Build your memories of what God has done."
___Another key to growing in awareness of God is coming to grips with God's mystery, she said. The mature believer recognizes there is much about God that is beyond human comprehension.
___"You don't have a fix on God," she said. "You understand enough for right now. But you haven't graduated yet. There is more to God than you understand yet."
___Growing as a Christian means being willing to accept change and rethinking cherished presuppositions, Davis added. It means removing barriers so the Holy Spirit can work.
___"Free up the Spirit within you, and then hold on to see where the ride is going to take you."
___In part, that involves freeing the imagination to the possibilities that God may have in mind, she explained. "Turn your imagination loose. What might God accomplish through you?
___"As you move out to do love and be Christ in the world, God will accomplish through you more than you could ever imagine."
