Funding debate questions equity of money sent to SBC vs. Texas needs need

___Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., received three and a half times as much funding from the Baptist General Convention of Texas last year as the BGCT gave Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University in Waco.
___This is an example of the heavy flow of BGCT funding to SBC causes that has become the focus of attention in recent months as calls have escalated for the state convention to change the way it allocates cooperative missions gifts.

Prestonwood threatens to leave

___PLANO--The Baptist General Convention of Texas stands to lose about $6,000 a year in financial support and the influence of seven agency trustees if Prestonwood Baptist Church proceeds with a threatened break from the state convention.
___Members of the suburban Dallas megachurch reportedly voted unanimously July 23 to dually align with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and threatened to leave the BGCT entirely if Texas Baptists don't give full support to the Southern Baptist Convention.

Baptist papers face content restrictions
___ATLANTA (ABP)--Two state Baptist newspapers have been restricted from carrying news and advertisements related to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
___The most stringent restrictions have been placed on Bill Neal, editor of the Christian Index in Georgia. Restrictions also have been placed on Don Kirkland, editor of the Baptist Courier in South Carolina.

Texas WMU encouraged to find love and life 'beyond belief'

___WACO--God wants his people to experience love and life "beyond belief" as they join in his mission, program personalities told women attending the Texas Leadership Conference.
___"Beyond Belief!" was the theme of the July 27-29 training event at Baylor University in Waco, sponsored by Woman's Missionary Union of Texas.

Bill giving churches more zoning protection sails through Congress
