Being godly women takes more
than just looks, collegians told

___DALLAS--Being a godly woman concerns more than just appearance, says Debbie Jobe, assistant director of the Dallas Fellowship of Christian Athletes and member of Willowbend Baptist Church in Plano.
___It is a matter of the heart.
___Jobe spoke during a breakout session at Focus 2000, an annual conference for college students held Labor Day weekend in Dallas. Students from across Texas gathered for a weekend of worship, fellowship, teaching and ministry.
___During her discussion on "Being a Godly Woman," Jobe used the phrase "HIS Woman" to describe the three characteristics she believes are necessary in the lives of those who want to be godly women:
___bluebull Humility. She encouraged the young women to imitate Christ's humility as described in Philippians 2:1-8. The beginning of humility is in the realization that "God is God and I am not," she said.
___bluebull Integrity. "A godly woman's life is one where her responses and actions honor her heavenly Father. Manipulation, misusing emotions, gossip and other emotional games are not played," Jobe said.
___"A life of integrity is secure because of Jesus Christ," she said, encouraging the women to allow God's love to be all-sufficient rather than always looking for a man's love.
___She used the image of an ox with its head in a yoke. When the wooden yoke is turned, the ox has to turn its head as well or its neck will be broken. She paralleled this with being yoked with Christ; where Jesus goes, the believer must follow.
___bluebull Servant. "A godly woman serves because she is in tune with the Father's heart and desires to put others first," the pastor's wife said.
___She concluded by noting that the question of how to become God's woman is answered in three powerful words. "Hear. Invest. Seek. Hear his voice and obey it; invest our lives in others; and seek him daily in the word."
___Becky Holt, a recent graduate of Baylor University, is communications intern for Baptist Student Ministries of the Baptist General Convention of Texas
