First Church of Horseshoebend in Weatherford will hold a homecoming celebration Sept. 24. A noon meal and afternoon gospel sing are part of the festivities.

Former members of Old East Avenue Church in Austin will gather at the Friendship Hall of Hyde Park Church in Austin Sept. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A catered barbecue will be held. Cost will be $7 per person.

Patrick Morley, author of "Man in the Mirror" and other books for men, will be the guest speaker at a men's rally Oct. 2 at First Church in Grapevine. Connie Ware, 55, Sept. 15. Ware was a vocational music evangelist. His ministry spanned 36 years, and his family joined him in that ministry for 26 years. The Wares served as revival or concert musicians in more than 1,400 churches and in more than 20 countries on six continents. He served six times as music director or assistant music director of the Conference of Texas Baptist Evangelists, and one term as music director for the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists. He is survived by his wife, Allison; sons, Collin and Jonathan; and brothers, Browning, Weston and Broadman.

Henry Jansen, 92, July 29. Jansen was a pastor for more than 40 years in San Diego, San Antonio, LaPryor and Hunt. He also served for many years as clerk of San Antonio Association and Medina River Association. In 1947, he was awarded second honor in the Southwide Association Minutes contest.
