Environment conference planned ___LUBBOCK--Participants will explore and celebrate the intersection of faith, agricultural research and rural development at an Oct. 8-9 "Caring for Creation" conference at Second Baptist Church of Lubbock. ___"Celebrating the Stewards of the Land: Sustaining Creation in the New Millennium" is the theme of the conference, co-sponsored by Second Baptist Church and the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission. The commission is the moral concerns and public policy agency for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. ___Keynote speakers are David Schmidly, president of Texas Tech University; state Sen. Robert Duncan, R-Lubbock; and state Rep. Warren Chisum, R-Pampa. ___Others include Charles Johnson, pastor of Second Baptist Church in Lubbock; Phil Strickland and Terri Morgan from the Christian Life Commission; and Rob Sellers, associate professor of theology and missions at Logsdon School of Theology of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. ___Special-interest sessions include topics such as: "The Emerging Crisis Around Water Resources and Conservation," "Agricultural Impact on Rural Development," "Hunger Relief in the New Millennium" and "Redeeming the Earth: A Global View." ___As part of the two-day conference, tours will be offered to the Sustainable Agriculture Research Station, the Plant Stress Lab at Texas Tech University and the Breedlove Dehydration Plant. ___Cost for the conference is $25, which includes a luncheon and an evening banquet. ___To register, contact the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission, 333 N.
