My best introduction
By Art Linkletter
___A few years ago, my 9-year-old grandchild, Stacey, asked me if I'd come out to her school and talk to her class. Naturally, being a granddad, I said, "Yes." As you know, that's what grandfathers are for.
___In return for getting me to make this free public appearance, the teacher assigned Stacey to make my introduction.
___A few days later, the young lady was back visiting with me, inquiring what she could

say to give an introduction.
___ I replied: "Darling, I have interviewed over 20,000 children on my TV show, and I never told one of them what to say or how to say it. They all lived through it and gave us something entirely new and interesting to think about. I am sure you will think of something appropriate and timely to say. I'll leave it up to you."
___ When the big day arrived, the nervous young lady took me by the hand, led me out before a crowd of fellow classmates and gave this introduction:
___ "This is my grandfather. He's 70 years old. And he's still alive!"
___ Stacey and I were laughing about this story recently while reminiscing about her growing-up years. Our talk concluded with: "Grandpa, I have one more introduction to make in about 8 months that I think will please you. I will be handing into your arms your 12th great-grandchild."

___ Art Linkletter is still alive at 88, and going strong. He's on CBS Friday nights with Bill Cosby in "Kids Say the Darndest Things!" This story appears in "GRAND-Stories: 101+ Bridges of Love Joining Grandparents and Grandkids," produced by Friendly Oaks Publications.
