Around the state
___bluebull Lillian Kroeger has been named registrar at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
___bluebull Fourteen faculty have been hired at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, including Barbara Dalby, management; Tammie Cooper, computer information systems; Joseph Zou, computer information systems; Stephen Crawford, music; George Hogan, music; Vicky Kendig, communications; Jessye Whitis, music; Carolyn Holloway, nursing; Donna Hubbard, nursing; Leda Barnett, political science; Tim Barnett, modern foreign languages; Karen Grant, biology; Janene Lewis, English; and Susan Pardue, modern foreign languages.

___Deaths
___bluebull Gordon Malkowski, 45, Sept. 14 in Brownsville, after an extended battle with cancer. He was pastor of First Church in Brownsville. While attending Southwestern Seminary, he served churches in Lohn, Miles and Evant. Before going to Brownsville, he had been pastor at Lackland Church in San Antonio. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant, junior grade. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth; and stepfather, Patrick Cooksey.

___Retiring
___bluebull Fenton Moorhead, after 12 years as pastor of Sugar Creek Church in Sugar Land and 39 years in the ministry, Oct. 28. Moorhead has led members to begin many ministries not only locally, but also in Kyrghystan, Honduras and Kenya. The church also has started and assisted more than 60 churches in Houston, South Carolina, Colorado and Arkansas. One local ministry the church founded is Urban Camp, designed to reach "at-risk" boys and girls ages 12-16 who never could afford a camp experience. Moorhead said he is retiring to work full-time for worldwide mission causes. A celebration to honor Moorhead and his wife, Mary, will be Oct. 28 at 5 p.m.
