Two Baylor graduates awaiting verdict from Taliban high court

___Two Baylor University alumnae arrested Aug. 3 in connection with apparent charges of attempting to convert Muslims to Christianity in Afghanistan are awaiting the verdict of the Supreme Court of the Taliban government.
___This summer, Taliban officials arrested Dayna Curry, 29, and Heather Mercer, 24, with eight other foreigners who worked for Shelter Now International, a German-based aid organization. Sixteen Afghans also were arrested.

BGCT universities appeal for steady level of funding

___DALLAS--Texas Baptist universities are growing, but they're also feeling a financial pinch caused by churches that have reduced or eliminated their support for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___Gary Cook, president of Dallas Baptist University, spoke on behalf of the presidents of the BGCT's eight universities, to the BGCT Christian Education Coordinating Board Oct. 16. Cook asked the coordinating board members if they "could serve as advocates for us at this time."
___The schools "could use some more funds," he said.
