Nomination forms are available by calling (770) 978-5736. Among traits Merritt listed as essential for consideration are being "fully supportive of our 2000 edition of the Baptist Faith & Message" and being "a faithful contributor" to the SBC Cooperative Program.

Undeterred by a broken foot and unprecedented security precautions, Graham launched the four-day event at Bulldog Stadium. Graham, 82, broke his foot in three places while in his hotel room two days before the campaign began. He arrived on the platform each night in a wheelchair, accompanied by his son Franklin Graham. Campaign organizers reported 14,731 spiritual decisions.
