Friendship International seeks help
___DALLAS--A Baptist ministry to international students is looking for a few good homes.
___Friendship International House needs families who will open their doors to international university students during the Christmas holidays, ministry spokesperson Cookie Stokes said.
___The Dallas affiliate of Friendship International House needs holiday homes for about 60 students from Dallas Baptist University, Stokes said.
___The ministry is particularly important this year, since the global situation has made students more open to spiritual matters than ever before, noted Rebecca Brown, international director at DBU.
___"International students attending universities ... are the best and brightest from their countries. They are the leaders of tomorrow," Stokes said. "What better way to share your faith, learn about other cultures and bone up on geography than to share your home for the holidays?
___"You never know how God is working or what kind of seed might be planted."
___Friendship International House dates are Dec. 20-Jan. 2. Daily activities are planned and sponsored by a local steering committee.
___Host families are expected to provide a place to sleep, some meals and transportation, Stokes said. Students spend holidays and attend church services with their host families.
___For information or to volunteer, contact Lori Fox at (972) 494-3204 or Stokes at cookie.stokes@fleetwatch.com.
