Wayland trustees
act on expansion
___PLAINVIEW--During their fall meeting, trustees of Wayland Baptist University approved two resolutions aimed at advancing the university's fast-growing San Antonio campus.
___Trustees approved a conceptual master plan for the campus that allows for expansion throughout the 32-acre tract acquired in the city. The San Antonio campus has a 33,000-square-foot facility that opened last fall, and the plan allows for addition of more classrooms, a library, dining areas and other needs.
___The plan also includes the concept of a four-story clocktower with Westminster chimes to be constructed at the entrance of the current facility, which would serve as an identifier for the campus off Interstate 35.
___Trustees also approved an amended strategic plan for the campus, developed by an advisory council comprised of residents from the San Antonio area. The plan includes considerations for the campus in relation to its four major populations--military and law enforcement, those upgrading their education, those seeking post-baccalaureate teacher certification and those called into ministry.
