___bluebull Miss MHB named. Amber Grimes of Lufkin was crowned Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor 2002 during the annual pageant Nov. 2 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. A psychology major with a Spanish minor, she also serves as an education ministry intern at First Baptist Church in Belton. Other top finalists included Amberleigh Beck, Elizabeth Bennett, Erica Sparks and Lydia Kosinar.
___bluebull Miss Wayland named. Ashley Wood, a sophomore speech communications major from Gordon, is this year's Miss Wayland University. A songwriter, she performed one of her own compositions for her pageant talent. She is a member of the musical ensemble Rejoice, Student Foundation, the Baptist Student Ministries leadership team and Wayland Singing Women. Junior Miranda Turner of Tulia was named first runner up, and junior Andrea Turner of Plainview was second runner-up.
___bluebull Wayland alums honored. Wayland Baptist University honored four of its graduates Nov. 16 at homecoming chapel. David Sanders of Plano received the Distinguished Alumni Award. Neil McBeth of Albuquerque, N.M., received the Distinguished Leadership Alumni Award. Wayne Bristow received the Distinguished Service Alumni Award. The Distinguished Young Alumni Award was presented to Chad Chaddick of Borger.
