TRUSTEES, employees and friends of Wayland Baptist University gathered Oct. 25 for a brief ceremony dedicating the first new dormitory constructed on the Plainview campus in several decades. The $1.1 million facility was constructed in the spring of 2001 and opened for its first residents in mid-August. Chancellor Wallace Davis recognized major donors to the dorm project, who have wings of the dormitory named for them. Those include Sally Shaw of Lockney, Thelma Evans of Amarillo and Yvonne Franklin of Amarillo. Another wing is named in memory of Irwin Graham by his wife, Eva. Above, dorm resident Katie Kuhn, a senior from La Junta, Colo., joins Chancellor Wallace Davis, Chairman Mark Murdock, Dean of Students Emmitt Tipton, President Paul Armes and Property Management Director Danny Murphree in cutting the ribbon.
