___ Gregg Association and Lifeway Christian Resources will jointly sponsor two ministry skillshops for ministry assistants Feb. 20-22 at Oakland Heights Church in Longview. Seminars to be offered are "Understanding Ourselves and Others" and "Designing Professional Publications." ___Deaths
___ Milton Leach Jr., 74, Oct. 22. Leach served with the Southern Baptist Convention Home Mission Board in the language missions division for 47 years, with service in Texas, Florida, Georgia and Puerto Rico. In addition to his work with Spanish-speaking people, he also helped start other language churches including Haitian, Romanian, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Brazilian. He served as national language consultant on refugees, as well as immigration ministries. Prior to this he was a missionary in San Saba Association, and at the Brooklyn Heights Spanish Mission in Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma, in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; son, Paul; daughters, Angie Leach and Martha Kilgore; sisters, Dorothy Salser and Hattie Welch; brother, Charles; and eight grandchildren.
___ Pink Voss, 82, Nov. 19 in Little Rock, Ark., while on a hunting trip. Voss was a retired Baptist minister. For the last 30 years, he has been a deacon at The Heights Church in Richardson and involved in building churches worldwide. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Allie Flo; son, Paul; and four grandchildren.
___ Stanley Jordan, 93, Nov. 25 in San Angelo. Jordan was an ordained minister for 65 years. He was a pastor in Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, and after retirement he preached 115 revivals and served 13 churches as interim pastor. The last 14 years of his life were spent in Baptist Memorials Retirement Center in San Angelo, where he was a member of First Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret; daughter, Janet Vaught; son, David; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
___ Oris Smith, 61, Dec. 3 in Georgetown. Smith had retired as director of missions for Williamson Association earlier in the year. He suffered a stroke in 2000 that later was diagnosed as stemming from a malignant brain tumor, which ultimately claimed his life. In addition to Williamson Association, he also served Bowie and Rehoboth Associations as director of missions. Churches he served include First Church in Texarkana, Temple Church in New Boston and Magnolia Avenue Church in Beaumont. He was a member of First Church in Georgetown. He is survived by his wife, Donna Fern; son, Stephen; mother, Armeta Smith; and brother, Tommy.
___Larlu Hays recently was honored by First Church in Wellington for her 40 years as church clerk. Her service included the tenures of 11 pastors. Hays, 86, was to have been honored at the church, but ill health forced pastor James McLeod and youth and music minister Derwin Comer to present her with a gift from the church in her home.
