Texas CLC conference focuses on liberty

___"Faithful Freedom: Religious Liberty in the New Millennium" is the theme of the annual statewide conference of the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission, scheduled for Feb. 12-13 at Austin's Tarrytown Baptist Church.
___"The 2001 statewide Christian Life Conference will focus on remembering, understanding and interpreting religious liberty as a Baptist distinctive," said Joe Haag, CLC associate director.
___Historians, sociologists, ministers and experts in constitutional law will offer their perspectives at the two-day conference, which will include a breakfast meeting with state legislators.
___Program personalities include Eileen Barker from the London School of Economics, Edwin Gaustad from the University of California at Riverside and James Dunn from Wake Forest Divinity School.
___Other speakers include Charles Haynes and Oliver Thomas from the Freedom Forum First Amendment Center, Derek Davis and Barry Hankins from the J.M. Dawson Institute of Church-State Studies at Baylor University, and Brent Walker from the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs.
___Recording artist Cynthia Clawson will present the musical theme interpretations.
