NAMB taps 11 Texans for service
___ALPHARETTA, Ga.--Eleven missionaries with ties to Texas have been appointed recently by the North American Mission Board.
___Gregory and Cheryl Cole serve as associational missionaries in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he is director of missions for Pikes Peak Baptist Association. Cole previously served as pastor of two Colorado churches, as well as several church staff positions in Texas and Missouri.
___Amy Fessenden serves as a collegiate evangelism missionary in Hilo, Hawaii, where she is a Baptist collegiate minister at the University of Hawaii Hilo and Hawaii Community College. Fessenden, a Dallas native, is a graduate of Southwestern Seminary. While in seminary, she served as volunteer coordinator for world relief in Fort Worth, and she served one year as a semester missionary in Honolulu in 1995-1996. She served as a Sunday School teacher and leader at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth and as a youth leader, worship team leader and singles' leadership team member at several other churches.
___Daniel and Karen Hester serve as volunteer mobilization missionaries in Chicago, Ill., where he works with the Illinois Baptist State Association as volunteer coordinator for four associations in metropolitan Chicago. Hester, a Texas native, is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary. Before beginning his current position in 1998, he had served several churches in Wisconsin and Illinois. He also served as volunteer coordinator for the Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention.
___Martin and Karen Jones serve as missionaries in Akron, Ohio, where he is associational missionary for Summit Baptist Association. Jones, a Texas native, is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and Southwestern Seminary. He previously as a pastor, prison chaplain, church planter, evangelism leader and youth minister. She most recently was children's coordinator at the church her husband served. She also has served as a church pianist, teacher, Vacation Bible School director and worship team member.
___Larry and Melissa Lewis serve as church planting missionaries in Grove City, Penn., where he will be a church planter intern and pastor of Church at the Crossroads. Lewis is a graduate of Texas A&M University and is attending Southwestern Seminary. He served as a youth/associate pastor for five and half years at First Baptist Church of Somerville.
___Scott and Corey Mescher serve as evangelism missionaries in Indianapolis, Ind., where he is associate director of youth ministries for the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana. He previously has been a summer missionary in Kansas and Mexico and a US-2 missionary in Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Mescher, a Texas native, is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University. She has been active as a Sunday School teacher and church youth volunteer.
