___bluebull Nominations sought for award. March 30 is the deadline for submitting nominations for the Texas Baptist Communications Award. The award is presented annually to a person in the communications or public relations field who has made significant contributions to the religious life of Texas. Baptist employees and employees of Baptist-related institutions, agencies or churches are ineligible. Nominations should be submitted to the Office of Communications, Attn.: Award Nomination, Baptist General Convention of Texas, 333 North Washington, Dallas 75246-1798. To nominate someone, write a letter giving as much information as possible about the person and his or her work.
___bluebull Baylor gets Lilly grant. Baylor University's Center for Family and Community Ministries will share a $664,661 grant from the Lilly Endowment with Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. The grant will be used to launch two new initiatives--a book series on family ministry and a series of resource guides surveying the literature on various facets of family ministry.
___bluebull Reliant gives Baylor $500,000. Plans for the expansion of Baylor University's Rogers Engineering and Computer Science Building have been advanced by a $500,000 gift from Houston-based Reliant Energy. Reliant President Steve Letbetter recently presented the grant, the first major gift to the project.
___bluebull Truett preview coming. Prospective students for Baylor University's Truett Theological Seminary are invited to campus Feb. 8-9 for a winter preview. Accommodations and meals are provided. For information, call (254) 710-3755.
___bluebull Spring enrollment gains at Baylor. Baylor University reports a spring enrollment of 12,604 students, an increase of 425 over last spring.The total includes 11,099 undergraduates, 1,161 graduate students and 251 students in Truett Seminary.
___bluebull ETBU invites prospects. East Texas Baptist University will hold its semiannual Tiger Day March 3. The event is designed to give prospective students and their parents a chance to see what the school is all about by participating in campus rallies, campus tours, parent/student question and answer sessions, and financial aid seminars.
