Name change proposed for children's home
___DALLAS--A Baptist General Convention of Texas board voted unanimously Jan. 19 to approve changes to the name and organizational structure of Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock, a step similar to those already taken by two other BGCT child and family services entities.
___The BGCT's Human Welfare Coordinating Board approved the change during its regular meeting at the Baptist Building.
___The Texas Baptist Children's Home proposal, because it involves a change to the agency's charter, still must be considered by the BGCT Administrative Committee, Executive Board and messengers to the annual session in Dallas Oct. 29-30.
___The new name, if approved, will be Texas Baptist Children's Home and Family Services. The parent corporation will have five subsidiary corporations--Children at Heart Foundation, Texas Baptist Children's Home, Miracle Farm, Texas Baptist Children's Home of Houston and a new entity for government contracts.
___BGCT messengers would continue to elect the members of the parent corporation's trustees, who in turn would elect the members of the other boards.
