Atlanta Association still reeling over debate on two gay-friendly churches

___ATLANTA (ABP)--Two Georgia Baptist churches under fire for welcoming and affirming homosexuals survived a second ouster vote from their local association March 12.
___However, Atlanta Baptist Association approved by a required two-thirds majority a new bylaw excluding any church "which knowingly takes, or has taken, any action to affirm, approve or endorse homosexual behavior."

Major parts of Bush's faith-based initiative will be delayed
___WASHINGTON--The White House is postponing action on a portion of its faith-based initiatives and may amend part of its plan, according to a news report released last week.
___Some religious leaders have expressed concerns about President Bush's plan to provide federal funds to religious charities, and the administration is seeking to mute some of the criticism, The Washington Post reported March 12.

Annuity Board won't serve churches breaking ties with SBC

___RALEIGH, N.C. (ABP)--A running joke among Baptist ministers during two decades of denominational infighting has been, "If the Southern Baptist Convention splits, I'm going with the Annuity Board."
___For some, it's no longer a laughing matter.
___The Dallas-based SBC agency has announced that staff members from churches that publicly sever ties with the SBC are no longer eligible to participate in Annuity Board retirement or insurance programs. Full Story
