___bluebull UMHB honors alumni. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Alumni Association will honor several individuals during a March 31 celebration. Distinguished Alumni Awards will be given to Bobbie Wilborn of Denton, Glenella Grant Scarbrough of Fort Worth and Madge Mao Meyer. The Crusader Alumni Award will be presented to Mwaura Samson Wanyoike.
___bluebull East Texas church leaves SBC. Austin Heights Baptist Church of Nacogdoches has voted to sever its ties to the Southern Baptist Convention and Shelby-Doches Baptist Association, while retaining ties to the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___bluebull Smedes at Baylor. Lewis Smedes will be the featured speaker March 27-29 at the Parchman Endowed Lectures at Baylor University's Truett Theological Seminary. Smedes, professor emeritus of theology and ethics at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., will present two lectures on "Stations on the Way to Reconciliation." All sessions will begin at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Waco parlor. The lectures are free and open to the public.
___bluebull University offers Easter pageant. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will produce its 62nd annual Easter Pageant at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. April 11. The outdoor reproduction of the Christian passion week is free and open to the public. About 90 UMHB students will be participating in the pageant. For more information, call (254) 295-5150.
___bluebull HBU plans preview. Spring preview weekend at Houston Baptist University is scheduled for March 23-24. The weekend includes entertainment, information and opportunities to meet with faculty, staff and admissions personnel. For information about the free event, call (800) 969-3210.
