SENIOR ADULTS from throughout the state gathered at four regional workshops.

___"Many people focus on what they cannot do, but that is the wrong question," said the recently retired director of evangelism for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___"The right question is, 'What does God want to do with and through you?'
___"You can do anything God wants to do with and through you. If you want to do something for him, he will give you the means to do it," he said.
___Stone, also a former pastor in Odessa and Bryan, was the keynote speaker for a series of four regional senior adult workshops. They were held in Richardson, Longview, Conroe and in San Antonio.
___The San Antonio conference, March 26, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the meetings at the church where they began in 1981, Trinity Baptist Church.
___Participants were offered a series of seminars at each of the workshops, with topics ranging from relationships to death and dying to caring for aging parents to self help.
___The conferences were sponsored by the Christian Ethics and Public Policy Center of the BGCT.
___Stone used the story of the little boy with the five barley loaves and two fishes that Jesus used to feed the multitude (John 6:9) to demonstrate that God will provide the way to do whatever God wants to do with and through people.
___"The little boy gave up his lunch and found himself sitting down to a banquet," he said.
___"Many people say, 'I couldn't do that,' but who cares what you can't do?," said the veteran preacher, who described himself as "a half a loaf and a half a fish person."
___Stone told the story of the time Charlton Heston was appearing in the movie "Ben Hur."
___"He was supposed to stand up in the chariot during one of the spectacular scenes in the movie. But Heston couldn't stand up in the chariot while it was going full speed. So he told the director, Cecil B. DeMille, that he could not stand up in the chariot and win the race at the same time.
___"DeMille told him it was his responsibility to stand up and it was DeMille's responsibility to see that he won the race.
___"That is the way it is with God," Stone said. "It is our responsibility to stand up, and it is his responsibility to see that we win the race."
