FIRST CHURCH in Denton recently honored couples who had been married 50 years or more. The church has 74 couples within its membership who meet that criteria, and 43 were able to attend. ___ Larry Watson, May 7, as music director at Calvary Church in Brenham.
___ Tommy Ryan, May 20, after 30 years as minister of music at First Church in Marble Falls. He has worked with youth through senior adult choirs, and for the last 19 years has directed the Marble Falls Christmas Pageant, which enjoys statewide recognition. He and his wife, Carolyn, will continue to plan activities and trips with senior adults. A special concert will commemorate his ministry the evening of May 20. A reception will follow.

___Deaths
___ Milton Litzler, 77, March 6 in Frisco. He and his wife, Nettie Lee, retired to Quitman in 1986 after serving for 35 years as a pastor in Clemville, Mineral, Selden, Bluff Dale, Three Rivers and Point Comfort. After his retirement, he continued to serve as an interim pastor for a number of churches. He was a member of First Church in Quitman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years; sons, David and James; daughters, Betty Litzler and Barbara Roberts; four grandchildren; one sister; and four brothers.
___ Joshua Ibarra, 74, March 12 in Wichita Falls. Ibarra was pastor of First Mexican Church in Wichita Falls for 38 years. He recently had begun a television ministry on the Christian Family Television Network. He is survived by his wife, Faustina; two sons, William and Joshua Jr.; two daughters, Rachel Jones and Elizabeth Diaz-Warrior; one brother; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
___ Vera Rhoads, 71, April 4 in Andice. She was the wife of R.V. Rhoads, pastor of Andice Church in Andice. She was Vacation Bible School director for the church 10 years. She traveled with her husband for 13 years building churches for the missions division of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Monnie De Unger; three brothers; four sisters; and two grandsons.
___ Evelyn Landers, 89, April 7 in Houston. She was the wife of pastor Martin Landers for 53 years and taught school in Texas and Oklahoma. At the time of her death, she was a member of Williams Trace Church in Sugar Land, but was a former longtime member of First Church in Big Spring, where she taught the Questers Sunday School class for 30 years. She is survived by her son, William; sister; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
___ Elizabeth Taylor, 90, May 3 in Fort Worth. She was part owner of Dallas Offset Inc., and served on the board of directors. The company is the printer of the Baptist Standard. She was a member of Broadway Church in Fort Worth, where she was the earliest teacher of the Baptist Center Program, an after-school club for young girls. She previously was a member of First Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, O.L. Ted Taylor. She is survived by her son, Ted; daughter, Kay Heimlich; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
