___ HBTS plans commencement. Hispanic Baptist Theological School will hold its spring commencement service at 7 p.m. May 18 at Harlandale Baptist Church, 502 East Southcross, in San Antonio. Eighteen graduates will receive diplomas. Guest speaker will be Joy Fenner, former executive director of Texas Woman's Missionary Union.
___ DBU plans PaceSetters camps. Dallas Baptist University will offer
NEW OFFICERS of the Texas Baptist Ministers' Wives Fellowship are President Lisa Massar of Tyler, Second Vice President Gloria Freeman of The Woodlands and First Vice President Kelly Prindle of Mount Pleasant.
PaceSetters servant leadership summer camps June 4-8 and June 11-15. The week-long adventures for high school students combine teaching and worship with many opportunities to serve. ___ Callaway honored. Gilbert Callaway, retired director of missions for Collin Baptist Association and former pastor in Wylie and Lewisville, received the Paul and Silas Volunteer Service Award from the Sheriff's Association of Texas for his work at the Collin County Justice Center in McKinney. The award was presented at the Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award ceremony May 4 in Austin. Tommy McIntosh, senior chaplain at the Travis County Sheriff's Department, was another Baptist honoree at the interdenominational event, receiving the Hope in Our Hearts Award.
___ UMHB plans commencement. Commencement at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was held May 12, with 255 students receiving degrees.
___ Stanlake named dean at HSU. Gary Stanlake has been named dean of graduate studies at Hardin-Simmons University. He succeeds Dan McAlexander, who has become provost at Belmont University in Tennessee. Stanlake has taught at Hardin-Simmons since 1978. He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Abilene.
___ Golfers play for kids. The annual golf marathon benefiting Texas Baptist Children's Home at Round Rock raised more than $151,000 for the child-care agency. The 77 golfers playing in the tournament were backed by 1,485 sponsors.
___ Fowlkes named chaplain. Dane Fowlkes has been named chaplain at East Texas Baptist University. He previously served as director of alumni relations.
___ ETBU honors Pugh. East Texas Baptist University awarded an honorary doctorate May 5 to Quinn Pugh, a retired pastor and former executive director of the Metropolitan New York City Baptist Association and Baptist Convention of New York. Pugh is a 1950 ETBU graduate.
