Around the state
___A Henderson County crusade recently saw 357 people make public decisions, 222 of those people professing faith in Jesus Christ, Dogwood Trails Area Director of Missions Mike Smith said. The four-day event, with preaching coming from evangelist Frank Harber, had attendance of about 8,000 people.

SOUTH GEORGIA CHURCH in Amarillo recently kicked off its ministry to the Timbers apartment complex. The Easter block party included food, games, music, door prizes and an Easter egg hunt that drew about 170 people. Lyndy Phillips presented the gospel message through humor and illusion. The next morning was Easter, and 29 people gathered at the apartments for the the first worship service held there.

___Retiring
___bluebull Jesse Sutton, May 20, after more than five years as minister of music at Holly Brook Church in Hawkins. He has been in ministry for 50 years, serving churches in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana as minister of music, education and youth. Texas churches he has served also include First Church in Bedford, Hilltop Drive Church in Irving, First Church in Ranger, First Church in Freeport, First Church in Canyon and Trinity Church in Amarillo.
___bluebull O.K. Bowen, May 27, after 22 years as pastor of First Church in Memphis. He has been in the ministry more than 40 years, serving Oklahoma churches prior to his current church. He has served on both the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the board of directors of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.

___bluebull Progress Church in Yoakum, 75th, May 26-27. A barbecue supper will be served at 5 p.m. Saturday, with an anniversary service beginning at 6:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow the Sunday morning service.
___bluebull Tanglewood Church in Lexington, 100th, June 3. Events include dinner on the grounds, singing, plaque presentation and recognition of the oldest and youngest members and former pastors.

___Deaths
___bluebull James Morman, 91, in Lindale. Morman was chaplain of the 11th Airborne Division and was awarded the bronze star. He was pastor of churches in Port Arthur, Mount Pleasant and Port Neches. He also was a former trustee of Baylor University. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Hilda; son, James Jr.; brothers, Joe and Jack; sister, Bonnie Wilkinson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
___bluebull Patricia Campbell, 60, May 9 in Abilene. In recent years, she had been a lecturer at Hardin-Simmons University. She is survived by her daughters, Cathlynn Brothers and Debra Ernst Perkins; son, Derek Ernst; sister, Darlene Henson; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

___bluebull After worshipping in a tent set up in the parking lot for two years, Southcliff Church in Fort Worth moved into its new 1,750-seat worship center and music suite complex May 20. Carroll Marr is pastor.
___bluebull Prestonwood Church in Plano has approved plans to begin the second phase of the church's building plan. Groundbreaking for the new facilities will start this summer. The plan includes the construction of a chapel, a common area with a food court, a student ministry building, a tower and cross, an interactive learning room for preteens, a fireside room, a multipurpose building and an elementary education building to be shared with Prestonwood Christian Academy. Jack Graham is pastor.
